Details on how to become a member and answers to some common queries about membership.
Why become a member of the Semigroups Network?
Membership is open to all researchers in semigroup theory: it is free to join the network and members will receive regular newsletters and announcements (concerning upcoming events, activities, and opportunities) via email.
How to join and how to leave
To join, please complete this form for approval.
Members may choose (at any time) to update their details or leave the network. To do so, please contact us.
What are the categories of membership?
To help maintain our records, two categories of membership are available: short-term and long-term.
Short-term membership is aimed particularly at postgraduate students, researchers on temporary contracts and visiting researchers. The default length of short-term membership is 5 years, after which time members in this category will be invited to re-join (either as a short-term member or long-term member) or allow their membership to ‘expire’. Those choosing short-term membership can optionally indicate an earlier date for renewal to be considered.
Long-term membership is aimed at more established researchers. Members in this category are encouraged to supply links to the pages of any
local research groups in semigroup theory to which they belong.
What information is held about members of the network and how will this be used?
The primary data collected via the membership form is: full name; affiliation; and email address. We use this data to keep members informed of events and opportunities via our mailing list.
We also ask whether you wish to be a short-term member or a long-term member. Selecting short-term membership allows you to optionally specify a date at which your contact details are likely to change to help keep our records up to date. Selecting long-term membership allows you to optionally include details of the research pages of your department (doing so may help junior researchers looking for PhD supervision and job opportunities).
